Prisoners share views at Aiken Rotary meeting
Kenneth D. McKellar, warden of Kirkland Correctional Institute in Columbia, told Aiken Rotarians that South Carolina prisons do not rehabilitate due to funding and staff limits. He cited education and skills programs and touted a threefold mission of security, safety, and humane treatment. Two inmates spoke of personal growth and the role of bad choices, peer pressure, and chance in their lives.
