U S government data show housing starts at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.83 million in January, up from 1.60 million in December. The gain centers on a 76 percent rise in five or more unit apartment construction to 692,000, while single-family home starts fell 4 percent to 1.04 million and two to four unit apartment starts dropped 15.3 percent.
Betty Joan Moyer 38 of Warrenville is charged in the Monday shooting death of her husband Hayward Gene Moyer 35. He was shot around 3:30 a.m. and died at Eugene Talmadge Memorial Hospital at 4:15 a.m. Coroner says two shots to the back.
