Aiken County Eyes Tax Breaks For Home and Farm Owners

Aiken County reopens 1982 books through Feb 28 to allow homeowners and agricultural landowners to qualify for 4 percent residential or land use valuations. Taxpayers may have misapplied assessment rates. refunds totaling $20,000 to $25,000 have been issued since Feb 2.

Jury To Hear Koon Defense Arguments In Resentencing

A nine woman and three man jury hears defense arguments today in the Warrenville murder case of Paul F. Koon as his resentencing proceeds. The state seeks death. Koon was convicted in June 1981 for Valerie Newsome's abduction and murder, with the Supreme Court ordering a new sentence last year.
