Forecast Shifts To Cold Rain As Aiken Scrapes Ice Risk
The National Weather Service in Columbia adjusted the forecast for Aiken and the upstate from freezing rain to chilly rain as temperatures rise above initial expectations. An 80 percent rain risk was noted for Aiken County tonight with lows near 40s and a 45 degree high, while precipitation totals were expected between a half and three quarters of an inch.

Prince Rivers born 1824 in Beaufort County escaped slavery around 1862 and served in the Union Army. He became one of South Carolina’s first black judges, helped form Aiken County, influenced courthouse placement, and held posts in Hamburg.
