Sidewalk Project Aims for Belvedere Elementary

Belvedere parents press for sidewalks after several children were hit by cars on a traffic stretch near Belvedere Elementary. Rep. Less Heart Disease May Mean Cancer Instead

An AP report notes the American Cancer Society projects fewer deaths from heart disease allow more people to live to ages when cancer rises as a leading threat. The society estimates one in three people born this year will develop cancer and about 22 percent will die of it, up from previous estimates for those born in 1970.

Parsons Buck Are Sentenced For Lying To Jury

Former South Carolina women’s basketball coach Pam Parsons and former player Tina Buck were sentenced to four months in prison and five years probation after pleading guilty to perjury. Judge Clyde Hamilton sentenced them to three years in prison, suspended to four months, with probation. They must undergo psychiatric evaluation and report to prison as directed.
