City Council Examines Board Size and Utilities Upgrades

The Aiken City Council holds a 7:30 p.m. meeting at Municipal Building to second read an ordinance cutting the board of appeals from seven to five. They will consider spending about $15,000 on sewer chemical route treatment equipment and first reading to revenue sharing funds interest use. Resentencing Case Begins for Paul F. Koon

Resentencing in General Sessions Court started today for Paul F. Koon who was convicted in 1981 of kidnapping and murdering Valerie White Newsome. The death penalty is challenged after the state Supreme Court ruled Solicitor Robert Harte erred by injecting personal opinion during closing arguments.
