Duke NAACP urges Duke students to pick Virginia Beach over Myrtle Beach
The Duke University NAACP chapter calls for students to skip the Myrtle Beach finals trek and visit Virginia Beach in early May as a boycott of South Carolina amid the Confederate flag debate gains traction. Tourism officials welcome the potential shift, noting Virginia Beach's accessibility and prior riot-era reforms while Duke students estimate 1,000 to 2,000 peers travel to Myrtle Beach annually.
