North Augusta band director arrested on embezzlement charge
North Augusta High School Band Director David Faulk was arrested around 6 pm on embezzlement of public funds. He was detained overnight at NADPS pending a bond hearing. FAulk and NAHS softball coach Verne Rushton were previously placed on administrative leave amid fundraising irregularities.

Student at Kennedy Middle School Arrested for Gun on Campus
An eighth grader at Kennedy Middle School was arrested after a starter pistol loaded with live rounds was found at 12:35 pm. The weapon could not fire, but the student was charged with possession of a weapon on school grounds and held in juvenile detention. Expulsion recommended by district officials.

Kitty Windham, a retired elementary school teacher, named this year’s Woman of the Year by the Aiken Chamber of Commerce for 35 years of community service.
