18 month old Makaylia Coleman is critically injured in Augusta after an alleged Saturday attack by her mother's boyfriend Saquan Tyrone Bostick 26. He is charged with infliction of great bodily injury to a child and faces potential homicide by child abuse if she dies. Officers say the arrest followed a Saturday incident between 6 and 9:30 am. The child was rushed to the Medical College of Georgia and may be taken off life support. The case is being investigated by the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office juvenile division.
Woodside Development Corp contracts a Nicklaus Designs 18 hole championship golf course on a 700 acre tract near Spalding Lake. Construction to start within weeks, courses to open spring 2002. Residential lots alongside expected to boost Aiken infrastructure and attract visitors.
NAS Corp of Aiken announces a 4.5 million plan to build a Fairfield Inn and Suites on Whiskey Road south side.
