Teddy bears provide lifelong comfort says psychiatrist
Dr Paul C Horton argues that stuffed animals act as soothing objects during stress. He cites university studies showing about 80 percent of female students and 40 percent of male students keep a teddy bear or similar toy in their rooms. Horton notes an estimated 100 million stuffed animals are in children’s hands in the United States, and the use crosses social age and economic lines.
