Salvor Plans To Raise Titanic in Wales
John Pierce, a 44 year old Welsh engineer from a remote 14th century farmstead, plans to raise the Titanic from 242 miles down in the North Atlantic with hydrogen filled bags and manned subs. He sees it as a last great adventure and believes backing from British and U S navies will fund a multimillion dollar project. He aims to survey next summer, build Canadian designed subs, and test lift trials by 1988. The plan faces skeptics who call the wreck a grave, and rivals from the U S French expedition that located the site.
