Soviet official Tass reports Viktor V. Grishin removed as Moscow party chief at a Kremlin led meeting. Grishin retires at 71 and Boris N. Yeltsin, 64, elected secretary of the Communist Party in July replaces him.
The Aiken Standard will not publish tomorrow so staff may spend Christmas with families. Offices close at noon today and will resume Thursday. They will also close at noon on Jan. 1, with a paper published on Jan. 1.
Forecasters expect tonight to be clear and cold with lows in the mid 30s. Christmas Day will be sunny and windy with a high in the mid 30s. Details appear on Page 2B.
