Blue Cross Plans Fee Cut Hit Aiken Doctors and Westinghouse
Blue Cross pegs potential reimbursement cuts at 40 to 50 percent for Aiken physicians as ARMC faces a new contract with Westinghouse. Aetna previously paid higher rates due to inflated Northeastern prices, prompting Blue Cross to apply its own schedule. Westinghouse offers 20 percent higher rates for 1997, tapering to 10 and 5 percent in 1998 and 1999 amid talks with 30 doctors ready to pull out of PPC network.
