SREL Auction Benefits The Nature Conservancy
The 14th annual Savan River Ecology Laboratory benefit auction, held last month, raised over 7500 for the South Carolina chapter of The Nature Conservancy. Proceeds support land purchases to preserve diverse ecosystems. Organizers Laura Janecek and David Scott have run the event at SREL since 1996, with total contributions near 46000 over 14 years.

Aiken man charged with DUI second offense after admission
A 63 year old Aiken resident was arrested Thursday for driving under the influence second offense. He admitted to an officer that he was drunk and refused sobriety testing. He used threatening language toward staff and was placed in custody at the county detention center.
