State rejects subdivision on Civil War encampment site
Charleston officials rejected a plan to subdivide Long Island near Folly Beach for nine bridges and 204 homes. The decision followed calls for more archaeological study and concerns over protecting the Star Battery and local wetlands. The developer plans to reapply in a few months after supplying requested information.
