Campbell Thurmond Reagan Meet On Textile Imports
Rep. Campbell and Sen. Thurmond of South Carolina meet with President Reagan to discuss Chinese textile import policy. Campbell says a broader understanding is possible though political sensitivity may block tougher controls. He warns against foreign competition harming U.S. industry and notes 117000 South Carolina textile jobs and 600000 Americans tied to textile output. Friday deadline looms for negotiations with the administration.
