The Aiken County Board of Education unanimously approved revisions making all schools and athletic venues tobacco free and updated rules on cellphones and other electronic devices. The vote also covered paging devices for elementary students and allowed devices at events during non school hours. Bids from R D Brown Contractors Inc. to paint press boxes at three high schools were approved at 9000 each totaling 27000 from the Five Year Facility Improvement Plan.
Robert Maddox, associate superintendent for Lexington School District Four, is offered the Edgefield County School District superintendent contract effective January 1, 2016. In Aiken at the H Odell Weeks Center families gathered for Storytime with Mrs Claus with 402 attendees for children under eight. Shirley King played Mrs Claus and read three books while elf helper Helena Fitch joined. families enjoyed songs and cookies as readings promoted early reading and holiday spirit.
