Prospective Marines chase down shoplifters at Aiken Mall
Two 18 year old recruits Tara Brady and Jeremy DuMont of South Aiken High School chased shoplifters indoors and outside at the Aiken Mall on Whiskey Road. They followed a suspect into a truck and recovered stolen goods after sprinting through the parking lot toward Red Lobster. The pair act as a training exercise and earned praise from store staff.

A briefcase containing confidential DHEC documents stolen Tuesday from a DHEC employee’s unlocked vehicle has been recovered by Aiken Public Safety. The case, taken from a 1991 Mazda 323 in the Walmart lot on Richland Avenue around 10:30 a.m., was found Thursday with the papers seemingly intact and no arrests announced. SCDHEC continues inventory to confirm all contents.
