Williamson's right cross opens path to national boxing meet
North Augusta welterweight Ernest Williamson earned a spot in the American Boxing Federation nationals in Tulsa after a win over Theodore Lightwood in Region III. Trained by Ron Nash and Noah Newman, Williamson balances training with work on Nash's house and aims for amateur glory or a possible pro move. He projects five bouts to claim the title while facing seasoned regional finalists and armed forces entrants. Williamson, mentored by Nash, describes his rise as life changing and focused on staying amateur to pursue the 1986 Goodwill Games or 1988 Seoul Olympics.
