Man charged in carjacking near Jefferson Davis Highway
Brent Hiers, 31, of Augusta Road, Warrenville, faces charges including carjacking by force from a person, possessing a weapon during a violent crime, possessing a firearm by a violent felon, and first degree assault after a 61-year-old man was assaulted and had his vehicle stolen in a Jefferson Davis Highway parking lot. The victim was severely injured and hospitalized. A witness and deputies corroborated the account. two men near the stolen car were questioned and released. Hiers was arrested Wednesday and jailed in Aiken County. bond was not listed.
