A state panel approved grants to three universities. Clemson receives 3 million for a research institute on development from restoration to infrastructure. USC gets 2.5 million for a hydrogen fuel program with a second installment of 2.5 million. Coastal Carolina and USC Upstate 2 million for travel and tourism research. A Campbell County man, Randy Sullens, 38, is sentenced to life without parole for two murders in Camboello.
