North Augusta Council hears animal plan and honors long-time inspector
At Monday’s council session North Augusta heard an animal welfare presentation from Friends of North Augusta Animals outlining nine goal areas such as vet care volunteers and microchip programs. Mayor Pettit also honored Building Inspector I Jack Jordan for nearly 30 years of service.

First day readers new attitude at Greendale Elementary
On the first day of school in Ai ken County 20 000 students returned to classes across Ridge Spring Monetta North Augusta as Greendale Elementary opened with a pledge and new principal Caroline Barker praising teamwork and smooth start. At Mossy Creek Elementary Jeff Matthews, a new elementary principal, spoke of returning to his roots and guiding young students. At Midland Valley High, seniors mentor younger students in a new program. By midmorning ninth graders at the district's new arts academy completed activities as part of campus programs.
