Adams case raises mental retardation and lethal drug questions

The defense argues state law at trial did not require revealing mental retardation, calling it a crucial mitigating factor. They contend the appeal is a last resort and note no court has ruled on juries learning of a defendant's disabilities. The state rejects that Adams is mildly mentally retarded and asks for a stay denial, while a second bid to block lethal drugs was rejected by a Circuit Court judge.
