Separation of conjoined Filipino twins marked by pivotal decisions
In 2003 a Montefiore team led by neurosurgeon Dr James Goodrich separated 2 year old twins Carl and Clarence Aguirre joined at the head. The mother Arlene Aguirre chose early on for separation, accepting risk to save both lives. The procedure followed years of planning with Manila doctors and other specialists.
