Space power shift as SRS plutonium-238 use ends
The next NASA probe may not rely on plutonium-238 from Savannah River Site as power sources. SRS last produced the fuel five to six years ago at HB Line and has been out of reactors since the late 1980s. The federal move places production at Argonne West in Idaho or Oak Ridge Tennessee.
