Public Voice for Food and Health Policy argues that government peanut quotas raise prices for consumers and mostly benefit a few thousand holders. In Georgia 2 200 quota owners control 53 percent, with top 260 holders averaging 75 707 annually in guaranteed benefits. The group says reauthorization would boost consumer costs by about 2 billion over five years.

Antique Car Owners Getting Exemption From Road Fee
Aiken County narrowly approved a 5 to 4 exemption for antique car owners from a $15 road maintenance fee. Proponents, including LaWana WeKenzie, argued vintage displays support the county’s history and costs are negligible. Opponents warned exemptions chip away at the budget and unfairly favor a subset of vehicles.
