The Aiken Planning and Zoning Commission approved reviewing development plans for a Comfort Inn to be built on U.S. 1 at I 20. The panel also greenlit landscape plans for several sites and parcels, plus requests for city water and sewer service, annexation, and zoning changes.
Ridge Spring voters re elected Mayor David Sawyer Jr to a second two year term with 218 votes. A total of 224 of about 300 registered voters participated in the non partisan election. Councilmen G L Carson Wendell Derrick Jimmy Gillian and Ronnie West were also re elected with 179 182 174 and 210 votes respectively.
MONETTA Mayor Dana Fallaw was re elected to a two year term by Monetta voters on Tuesday. He won 42 votes. Charles Kneece II and Charles Kneece III won four year terms to City Council with 54 and 43 votes respectively. Michael Cumbee and Wayne Holsenback were defeated with 18 and 20 votes.
