Avondale Mills plans shutdowns across several plants affecting about 1,800 workers in Aiken County with only Woodhead and Warren divisions remaining active. Woodhead makes coated fabrics while Warren handles apparel dyeing. Unemployment benefits will support affected employees. the company has not yet been contacted by the state Employment Security Commission.
