Fried Green Tomato Festival and Local Weekend Events
Multiple community events planned for Saturday and Sunday across Aiken and nearby areas. Highlights include Fried Green Tomato Festival at Country Ranch near Beech Island with live entertainment and raffles, Wagener-Salley Mud Run with gate times and fees, and a Disabled American Veterans yard sale at the DAV building in Aiken. Aiken Bridge Club Meets Weekly at H O Weeks Center
The Aiken Bridge Club holds weekly games at the H O Weeks Center every Tuesday at noon and Friday from 12 30 to 3 30 pm. Members pay 50 cents on Tuesdays and 1 on Fridays. The Cumbee Center Sun Run on August 23 starts at Odell Weeks Recreation Center with a 5K at 8 00 am and a 1 mile Fun Run at 8 45 am. Early entry 12 includes a T shirt. 6 for 14 and under. Late entries accepted day of race 6 30 to 7 30 am with a 14 fee. Proceeds benefit the Cumbee Center. Contact 803 649 0480 or 641 4162 for applications.
