In Klamath Falls Oregon swarms of tiny lime colored midges blanket tennis courts and yards. Vector District manager Mike Morstad says the species number in the millions and the late spring heat wave worsened the outbreak. Locals describe the nuisance as choking on contact and traffic hazard like green rain. The midges spend most of life underwater and emerge briefly to mate.
