Donna Caprell describes three years teaching at Schutz American School in Alexandria Egypt. The school draws students from Spain Holland England Palestine and Egypt with American standards and English instruction. Caprell lives on campus at Fairhaven and interacts with Egyptian staff and local residents amid a broader expatriate community.
Robert K. Mason, 72, a legendary figure who headed Du Pont Construction during the Savannah River Plant project, died Saturday in Wilmington Delaware. He led a workforce over 38,000 during the construction of the Savannah River Plant, one of the largest projects in history. Memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Society.
Aiken County Council will hold a public hearing Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the 736 Richland Ave conference room on transferring the Aiken Cablevision Inc. franchise to First Carolina Inc. The session includes multiple readings and ordinance proposals on taxes, county offices, drainage projects, road adds, and personnel pay plans.
Martha Burn of Aiken appears on page 36 of the August issue. The 19-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph T. Burn is a member of the J B White Fashion Board and a journalism student at USC Aiken.
