Connecticut Abolishes Death Penalty For Future Crimes

Gov. Daniel Malloy signed a law ending the death penalty for future crimes making Connecticut the 17th U.S. state to abolish capital punishment. The bill took effect immediately amid mixed public opinion reflected by a Quinnipiac poll showing 62 percent favoring the penalty for murder.
