Kristiansen Victorious In Women's Boston Marathon
Ingrid Kristiansen won the Boston Marathon women’s division with a 2:24:55 finish, the second-fastest ever for a woman at Boston. Joan Benoit Samuelson remains the only faster time, while Kristiansen missed sub 2:20 by about five minutes and earned $30,000 plus a new car. Samuelson did not run aggressively, having recently had foot surgery, and Kristiansen’s disappointment centered on not breaking 2:20 or setting a world record.
