Woman charged after wreck near Midland Valley Country Club

A South Carolina woman faces charges after a Monday collision on US 1 near Midland Valley Country Club. Divine Germany’s mother allegedly changed lanes improperly, causing a logging truck to crash and overturn, trapping driver Willie Briggs for about two hours as logs spilled and traffic halted.

Two MVHS Students Arrested Over Colo. Anniversary Rumors

Two ninth graders at Midland Valley High School were arrested after a week-long probe by MVHS officials and the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office into rumors of plans to celebrate the Columbine High School attack anniversary with violence. The suspects were taken to a juvenile detention center in Columbia.

Two Judges Named for A.C. Death Trials

Supreme Court Chief Justice Jean Toal reassigned judges in two Aiken County death penalty cases. Judge Thomas W. Cooper will preside over Hastings Wise while Judge Casey Manning handles William Ernest Downs. Peeples is removed as presiding judge in both trials. Wise faces a life sentence case for the shooting deaths at the RE Phelan plant. Downs is charged with kidnapping and strangling a child in North Augusta.

O Malia candle vigil honors murdered North Augusta boy

More than 100 people gathered at First Baptist Church in North Augusta to remember 6 year old Keenan O Malia murdered near the Greeneway trail on April 17 1999. The Candle of Hope Foundation raised funds through electric candles to support local charities and Community Care and Counseling Service of North Augusta.
