Indian Affairs to close eight of 11 boarding schools
The Bureau of Indian Affairs plans to shut eight of eleven off reservation boarding schools to save money. Wahpeton and Concho will close June 15 with projected first year savings of about $892,000 and $925,000 respectively. Three more facilities in Albuquerque and elsewhere will close by 1985, while three will remain open where youths have nowhere else to go.
