Fireman Injured As Car Strikes Volunteer Responder

A Graniteville area volunteer firefighter was slightly injured after being knocked down by a car while locating a woods fire behind Freedman Vocational School. The name was not released. the firefighter was treated at Aiken Community Hospital and released. The blaze, reported about 8:45 p.m., drew assistance from the Graniteville forestry unit. no injuries beyond the responder and no property damage were reported.

Body Found After Fire In North Augusta

A midnight blaze on Main Street in North Augusta destroyed an unnumbered wood frame house. Firefighters found a man’s body among the debris after 1:30 a.m. The damage was about $9,000. The cause is under investigation.
