Poison Center Warns Holiday Hazards At Christmas
The Palmetto Poison Center at the University of South Carolina urges extra caution during the holidays as many liquids and decorations can be toxic. Director Brooks Metts notes 206 calls in Christmas week last year about accidental alcohol ingestion by children and advises keeping alcohol gifts out of reach. The list includes fireplace color crystals, alcoholic beverages, perfumes, bubble light fluid, Christmas plants, and ornaments. The center, a 24 7 information service in USC College of Pharmacy, offers toll free help at 1 800 922 1117.
