Parish Notes From Nevis Church Meeting and Offerings
Sunday evening services drew a good crowd at the Christian Church Nevis. Rev. Peer delivered an appropriate talk as the ladies presented an animated program. The offering totaled about 27 dollars, and the society praised the attendees and new members Mr. and Mrs. James Roark. A planned second Thursday in December gathering was announced.

Obituary of James Shera veteran of Civil War in Lebanon
Obituary notes James Shera a Lebanon resident and Civil War veteran who died Thursday at Witham Hospital. Born July 6 1844 near Sardinia in Decatur County he joined the 68th Indiana Volunteers at eighteen serving three years in Kentucky and the Army of the Cumberland. He fought at Nashville Chickamauga Missionary Ridge and other engagements. He married Sophia Small in 1868 and later Margaret Heath in 1873. Survived by six of seven children. wife and several descendants.

John A. Chavers known as Dixie died of heart disease while driving southwest of Lebanon. Born March 17 1840 he was a Civil War veteran and a longtime farmer. Survived by wife Sarah J. Spencer and two sons Ed M. Chavers and Guy B. Chavers, with three children deceased and a sister Mary Spencer living in Ladoga. Burial arrangements not specified.

Sunday School attendance praised as a sign of church appreciation. Morning preaching on Nov 30 with revival in New Ross led by the pastor, plus a Thanksgiving Day union service at 10 a.m. The W M S reports 98 new missionaries sent abroad this year and 80 more young members to foreign fields recently. A K P Lodge gathering featured strong turnout and a local oyster stir with an angel food cake auction concluding with a sale by Arch Milly and Shannondale brothers.
