Next Monday the Old Union church will host a Daily Vacation Bible School in the afternoon starting at 2:00 PM. All community children are urged to attend each day, with punctuality emphasized by pastor E. C. Geeding to ensure a successful program.
Sarah Elizabeth Stith, born February 3 1838 near Dayton Ohio, lived in Rockville Park County and Boone County before marrying Elijah Canada in 1858. She died May 12 1924 at 86 with one son Perry dead, L W and eight grandchildren left, funeral at Mt Zion Church by Ora Mc Daniel, burial Mt Zion.
Mrs Carrie Beaver will deliver a missionary address at the First Christian Church in Lebanon tonight. The event is scheduled at the Lebanon church venue with a focus on missionary work and community outreach.
In a Saturday court of inquiry before Justice R W Roberts Richard Garrett refused to reveal names about window lights and switches dispute at Clara Garrett's Elizaville home. He was sentenced to jail until he answers the questioned names, and remains in jail. The report also notes the season’s first Band Concert drew a large audience with fine music.
Thomas Plunkett, 36, of Advance, was struck by a snapping wire cable at a gravel pit, breaking both legs. He was rushed to Williams hospital, then Lebanon for surgery, with severe injuries and five dependents. Plunkett, longtime C I railroad extra brake man, had just started work at the Bert Shera farm dip pit.
Bert Whitsett a well known citizen wed Susie Moore of Lebanon last Saturday in Lebanon. Offa McDaniel performed the ceremony. The couple will reside in Advance.
Patrick F. Riley aged 55 died at his home in Thorntown after a six year tuberculosis illness. Born October 8, 1868 on Gipson farm east of Thorntown, he lived in Boone county all his life. He married Catherine Coats in 1900. she died in 1902. A former night policeman, he is survived by daughter Magdeline Riley and sisters Jennie Arnold and Dora Gravett. Funeral Wednesday at residence with Rev H M Campbell officiating. burial in Precinct cemetery northeast of Thorntown.

Ora Beaver operates a four inch well at the school house. Mr and Mrs Everett McMullen of near Whitestown were Sunday guests of Mr and Mrs Quince. Thomas Caldwell and wife of Crawfordsville visited William Ross and family Sunday and brought Grandma Ross home after two weeks with the Caldwells.

Mildred Bowman stayed with aunt Mollie Brown east of town. Elmer Hinkle and family visited Cleo Kincaid south of Lebanon. Several families and individuals shared meals and gatherings Sunday and throughout the week. Mrs M A Fulwider at Williams hospital Lebanon improving. Mrs Hazel Waters attended the Frankfort Woman's Club luncheon, while the Advance merchants funded renting a baseball diamond for the season. The ground was rented from Mrs Vine Day and will be ready soon. Russell Plunkett is employed at the bakery for the summer, and Bernice Joseph is visiting M A Fulwider during his ill spell. Willis Fulwider and Mr Wynkoop of Lebanon were seen in Advance on Saturday.
Dr Royal Dye, a noted Disciple leader, delivered a forceful address to a large audience at the North Christian church Sunday afternoon. The item also notes local social visits and various ads including for sale items and trucking services.
James A Ballard age 75 longtime Boone Marion counties resident died at the county farm about 3 am Tuesday after a three week illness. He said his only living relative was a sister actress known as Hilda Thomas whose husband perished on the Titanic. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 10 am with Rev. Wm Williams officiating. Burial followed in the farm cemetery.
Jimmie Reed Jr drives a new Ford. Laura May Threlkeld visited grandparents Geo Threlkeld. Cecil Broshar and sons attended Advance church and dined with the DeBards. Bruce Pickering and Clyde Pickering with families visited their parents near Misses Gertrude Henry and Ruth Threlkeld in Indianapolis. Several residents hosted or visited neighbors including Trosper Ferguson Higgs Palmer, Lizzie Richardson and Charlie, and Otto Threlkeld’s guests from Indianapolis and New Ross. Oakley River drives a new Ford.
Carrie Beaver delivered an address at Antioch near Frankfort under the auspices of the Missionary Society of that place.
Ford Motor Company reports U S retail sales up 102,158 in the first ten days of May, averaging 8,385 daily and surpassing April’s pace. Total Ford retails reach 750,023 through May 10, with car and truck deliveries outpacing last year as demand remains strongest this year.
