School notes recount jokes and quick wits from students and (H S Editor James Burrin) highlighting light moments from Emerson life to Lincoln addresses. The fragment captures classroom banter on science, history, and daily school life with humor and character names.
The Queen Esther Band of East Christian church held its monthly prayer and business meeting led by Mrs. Sarah Darnell. A Christmas program featured by Mrs. Gertrude Mc Claine included a Gift for thought, with song service and prayers. An abundance of candy surprised Mrs. Darnell, and the next meeting is set for January 10, 1924 at Mrs. Amanda Young’s home. The class retained old officers with a few new committee names and Lizzie Lasley as assistant teacher.
The King’s Daughters class of East church gathered at Mrs. Beulah Caplinger’s home last Friday night. Refreshments of apples and candy were served. Mrs. Carrie Beaver, the class teacher, received a Christmas comfort gift.
Sam Houston and his wife were in an automobile accident three miles east of Lebanon on Tuesday. Mrs Houston sustained bad bruises about the head as the car turned completely over.
Old Union church notes show 12 new members added, Sunday school attendance 124, and plans for a seven oclock Christmas program next Monday. A church shower welcomed the pastor and family with a Christmas tree and Santa, while services continue nightly through next Sunday.
Sunday featured increased Bible school attendance and a morning worship. Ward led the union service with Forest Graves delivering a four year ministry tribute. Burris sisters and Glenn Waters performed, and Near East Relief received a children’s treat. Communion and a Christmas home coming play closed the day.
Social visits and family updates from Advance Indiana include Mr. and Mrs. Lasley guests of Shepher near Dover, Christmas plans for Lloyd Gordon’s Michigan relatives, and numerous calls on friends. Reports mention Harley Dale’s funeral, Mark Wall stock sale, K P lodge activities, births, illnesses, and community events at churches, schools, and the Advance Hardware promotions.
Crowds overflowed as 25 additions were reported yesterday at Central Christian Church, bringing total accretions to 116. Attendance at the Sunday school reached 736 while morning services saw record membership this year. The Christian Endeavor counted nearly 100 attendees. Seventy seven attended the opening of the meeting and tonight’s finale at 7 15 will include a baptism.
The Woman's Missionary Society of the North Christian Church met with Mrs Grace Wall on Wednesday December 12. Forty attended a splendid program. Refreshments of wafers and cocoa were served by sections three and four. The next meeting will be at the church with the men in charge.
The annual meeting of the North Christian church at Advance will elect one trustee for a three year term and typically elects other officers at the same gathering.

Students take roles as ushers, tutors, clerks, bank workers, and actors while professional track students gain opportunities in journalism law medicine and accounting. Many say work hampers access to campus life though most cheerfully endure for education and experience.
Neighbors welcomed Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Faulkinbury with a rain soaked surprise last Wednesday night featuring oysters and all the trimmings. The Faulkinburys regret leaving their good neighborhood as they move away.
