Interference Warning On Choctaw Chickasaw Election

In Muskogee Indian Territory on September 22 1902 a telegram from Secretary Hitchcock warns that the Department of Justice and Interior will act against any government official who interferes with the pending Choctaw Chickasaw supplemental agreement election. The message asks Ada News to publish such notice when practicable.

The writer claims Filipinos are lazy and short, noting average height about 4 feet 6 inches and weight around 100 pounds. Occupations listed include fishing, cock-fighting, rice, hemp, sugar, and rebellion. Cholera outbreaks are mentioned with Board of Health reporting danger over.

Black mare offered for recovery near Ada location

A young unbroken mare described as a black female horse, about 14 hands high with a B brand on the left shoulder, is missing between 8 and 8 miles south of Ada. A reward of $5 is offered for information or recovery of the animal.

Indian Presbytery to Ordain Williams at Ada First Church

Last week at Chishoshtak the Indian Presbytery examined licentiate Jno A Williams of Ada for ordination. A presbytery commission will visit Ada on Sept 28 to ordain Williams and install him as pastor of Ada First Presbyterian for half time. Services to be held at the Methodist church with ordination prayer and laying on of hands.

Ada Indiana Territory bank reports total assets of 165 220.74 with capital 25 000 and surplus 10 000. It lists loans 106 927.95, U S bonds 6 250, deposits 76 024.74 and notes outstanding 6 250. The cashier Frank Jones swears the statement true as of Sept 15 1902 with directors attesting.

Ordinance Prohibits Public Intoxication in Ada

Ada town council adopts Ordinance No 13 banning drunk in public places. Anyone seen on streets or alleys intoxicated may be fined up to twenty five dollars. Ordinance takes effect after passage and publication dated September 24 1902. Mayor H T Drury and recorder S W Hix announced.
