Wilson Reunion Proves Successful
The Wilson community held its second annual Homecoming with delays due to the absence of master of ceremonies Leonard Solomon, Jackson County agent. Luther E. Solomon of Oklahoma City organized the event until his arrival, with Raybert Solomon directing singing and Mrs. Joe Blansett reporting on Leonard's inability to attend. Reverend J. Fred Hooper spoke, a large lunch followed, and prizes were awarded to Otto Arter of New Mexico and Mrs. Carl Solomon of Roff for attendance. Mrs. Ada Hall noted Wilson's founding dates to 1895. Pleasant Hill residents helped dig the new church foundation last Saturday with Brother Logan Cornelius reporting. Volunteers finished external ditching and three more tasks as part of the church project while Pontotoc county readies for the 1954 Free Fair opening September 16 at Ada.

Pontotoc County officials announce a new method for paying fair premiums to streamline warrants. Warrants will be lumped into two or three payments and cashable at local banks or stores, saving time and about $100 for the county.

A small tornado hit Pontotoc county with strong winds and heavy rain Tuesday afternoon. Woolley suffered severe damage including a garage destroyed and scattered debris across a city block. Joe McDaniels’ garage and roof were damaged, with a pumphouse destroyed as telephone and electric lines went down.

Mission Postponed for CAP Search and Rescue Demonstration

Pontotoc county farm agent Cy Hailey promotes soil analysis offered by the county office. For 50 cents, samples from Pontotoc farms are tested for Potash Organic Matter Phosphorus and Acidity with recommendations mailed afterward.
