Pontotoc County 4-H member Martha Herion receives a share of 9350 in state educational grants after 9 years in 4-H and 145 completed projects. The 18 year old daughter of Beatrice Herion also won a 200 scholarship in the 4-H Leadership program and chaired the Pontotoc County Electric Cooperative project.

The County 4 H Council met at Ada City Hall on October 21. New officers were elected: Marilyn Blansett president Latta Club, Robert Scroggins vice president Byng Club, Shelby Morgan secretary Latta, Stephanie McCullar reporter Vaness Club, Janice Chilcoat song leader Vaness, and Mike Golden game leader Union Hill. The State Highway Commission opened bids Friday for more than 800000 in county road work in Pontotoc. Low bids were Henryetta Construction Co. for the Big Sandy Creek bridge at 266110 and Sherwood Construction Co. for a 2307 mile highway segment at 541699. Local bond funds funded the projects under the 490000 county roads issue approved Oct 13 1964, with right of way costs shared by local government in urban areas.
