Pair Returns From National A H Conference

Two 4-H students from Poritator County returned from a four day trip to Kansas City with the Oklahoma delegation. Cheryl Mellen a East Central State College arushman and Dewey a Stonewall High student attended with peers from five states. They toured the Kansas City Zoo the American Royal Livestock Show and other city sights while participating in meetings and recreational events.

Eastern Variety State Releases Wild Turkeys In Pontotoc Ranches

Pontotoc Countys growing wild turkey population received three boons this week with about 30 Eastern turkeys released at two county sites. A third release is planned. Virgil Williams, county game rager, oversaw the efforts with observers present at the K P Shaeffer ranch near Rolf. Birds were penned briefly then released in stages to allow them to settle.

East Central Quarterhorse Sale Opens Saturday in Ada

Ada hosts the East Central Quarterhorse Association fifth annual sale at the Ada Pony Sale and Quarterhorse barn on SH 13 Northwest. About 75 horses will go under the hammer with all cash: highest bidder wins. Auctioneer Bi Tackett of Conway Arkansas will settle disputes. the one day sale runs from 12 pm to about 11 pm.

Ahloso Citizens Schedule Urban Planning Session

Residents of the Anosa area will attend a four meeting next Tuesday evening at the school. The meeting will explore Metropolitan Area Planning and Zoning. Urban planner Bob Lehr will discuss how planning affects the area with attendees. Master Planning Committee members J A Richardson C Boswell Tray Melton Wendell Tharas Oliver Parker will join. Additional meetings across the county may follow in Homer and Latno to explain the program.

OSU Grad Trains In County Office

Frank Millsap a 22 year old horticulture graduate from Oklahoma State University trains as assistant county agent in the local extension office. He arrived Oct 2 and works with Emerson Black while aiming for a master's in ornamental horticulture. He attended Muskogee High School and was an FFA member.

County Election Nears Eligibility Rules for ASC Committees

A county wide list outlines eligibility for county ASC committees. Requirements include residency in the county and restrictions on prior native political activity and public service. The draft also notes disqualifications on certain political engagements and yard work-related roles.

Allen Man Named To Three-Year Farmers Home Admin Committee

Allen, Oklahoma resident Guy E. Pegg is named to the three-man Farmers Home Administration Committee in Pontotoc and Murray counties. County Supervisor Arthur Ray announced the appointment for a three-year term beginning July 1, 2362. Pegg replaces Oscar Rankin and serves with Bennie Ownbey and Arthur Mowe. The committee reviews and recommends loans and technical assistance, with last year totaling 316,250.00 in FHA loans.

Mobile Station Keeps Us Power In Roff Step Up

Overhauling a transformer can cause varied problems says Oklahoma Gas and Electric the biggest is loss of power when another voltage station doesn't take over. The JG&E mobile sub station arrived this week at Roff employees stepped up kilowatt load on transformers there. It was called from Oklahoma City to assume the electricity load for Roff. The station is one of five in the area.
