The Pontotoc County Angus Breeders Association held its first annual sale at Ada Livestock Auction. Gross receipts reached 40000 dollars. Top lot Shady Springs Edwina sold for 300 dollars to Louis Lundgaard. S S Marshall bull 440 dollars to Marvin Chilcoat. Carlton Corbin led bulls and cows at 600 and 380 dollars. Farthest buyer came from Checotah. Oscar Parker bought three bulls.

Stenographer Training Open to 20 Pontotoc County Women
Twenty unemployed Pontotoc County women may enroll in a 26 week stenography course at Central State College Ada starting October 26. Classes run daily 1 to 6 pm with costs funded by the Manpower Development and Training Act and a possible 27 dollar weekly training allowance for heads of households. Applications are being taken at the Oklahoma State Employment Service Ada office. requirements include 22 years old, two years of work history, high school graduation, typing and shorthand basics, and strong English competence. After completion, jobs are to be lined up by the employment service.

Heavy Voter Turnout Passes $490000 Highway Bond
Pontotoc County voters approve a $490,000 highway bond in a Tuesday special election by 4,570 to 1,487, about 75 percent yes. The measure passes in 33 boxes, with Ada precincts and all three districts voting yes. a few boxes and some towns vote no. Projects include a four mile access highway near the water research park, a new two point three mile four lane connection with a Sandy Creek Bridge, and modernization of about three miles on the Allen Highway. This is the first county bond in nearly 40 years.
