Pontotoc County Votes on $49,000 Bond Issue for Roads

Voters in Pontotoc County will decide on a $49,000 bond issue the first in nearly four decades to fund highway projects. The plan funds four-lane work Arlington to Hemer, a new beeline road to SH 1319, and the Water Laboratory Road plus a $2.5 million Water Research Center. Bonds will be repaid from state highway funds, commission shares, and a two year property tax levy with a three year term.

Angus Breeders Plan Sale in Ada Oklahoma

The Pontotoc County Angus Breeders Association schedules its first sale Monday at 12 30 p m Oct 12 at the Ada Livestock Auction. It features 40 registered Angus and 276 commercial heifers with 23 consignors. Auctioneer Holland Jester presides. consignees include Ned Biffle Carlton W Corbin Eldon Flinn and others with officers Sexton Thompson Parker Hailey.

Area V to Hold Annual Meeting in Ada November Sixth

The Oklahoma Association of Soil and Water Conservation Districts Area V will meet November 6 in Ada at the East Central Student Union. Attendees include officials from 87 Oklahoma districts across five areas. Topics cover 1965 watershed objectives, legislative aims, and a noon talk by Hollis Williams on upstream flood control.

Mrs. Gertrude Johnson inherits her late husband Frank Johnson’s antiquated book trove. Johnson, a writer, poet and journalist, was a Kansas author and furniture dealer who shopped auctions to grow his volumes. The list includes works from 1851 to 1867 such as Trumpet Blasts, Harper’s, Argosy and the Private Life of Napoleon.
