County Stock Raisers Sign Up for Feeds
About 210 county farmers and ranchers had applied to the Farmer's Home Administration for participation in the emergency drought feed program. Pontotoc County was designated a drought disaster area. The program offers surplus government grain at reduced rates, with maize oats barley and corn listed. Hay may be added later. Grain price reduction is one dollar per hundredweight with proportional reductions for mixed feeds and larger authorized quantities. No cake or proteins included. Ration based on foundation herd size.

Pontotoc County Fair Prep Nears Opening for Quarter Horses
Preparations for the Pontotoc County Free Fair intensify with opening about ten days away. Cy Hailey says entry blanks will be reused, distributed through 4-H and home demonstration clubs, and available at the county agent’s office or the fairgrounds. Entries run Sept 17 1 pm to Sept 18 6 pm with a 40 stall capacity in barns 5 and 6 for quarter horses.

Homecoming Draws Crowd to Wilson
Wilson community held its fourth annual homecoming at the church with nearly 100 attendees from Wilson and nearby towns including Texas and New Mexico. Rev. Curtis Hogue spoke on The Prodigal Son and His Homecoming. entertainment followed with group singing, accordion numbers, and a gifts presentation to the longest married couple, Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Shumard, who marked 50 years.

Vanoss FFA Team Competes in State Dairy Meet
Vanoss Dairy Judging team Richard Pedersen Laurin Patton Robert Sanders Har rell Pennington competed in the State Dairy Judging Contest at Enid. Instructor W P Gallup traveled with the group. On return they visited Fort Reno Agricultural Sub-station. This year seventy boys enrolled in vocational agriculture, the largest Vanoss FFA enrollment.

The Shaw Cafe in Stonewall was entered Friday night and about 60 to 70 dollars taken from a box of sales tax receipts. Entry was gained through a rear window after removing an air conditioner, city marshal Tom Crow said. No clues were left. Mr and Mrs Shawn were away at the Woodward rodeo.

The Ada Roundup Club launched a polio fund for member Dixie Wadlington, now at Crippled Children’s Hospital in Oklahoma City after bulbar polio. A stockade at Main and Broadway during the Ada Rodeo raised fines that go to the fund. the club will donate and welcomes mail contributions to Box 94 Ada.
