Casady Families Win Farm Family of the Month Award

Austell and Clyde Casady operate a 25 cow Holstein dairy near Pickett School district and earned Ada Chamber of Commerce Farm Family of the Month. The two families farm 280 acres with pasture and silage, using artificial insemination on all 17 heifers and planning permanent silo work. They milk about 26,000 pounds monthly and focus on bermuda pasture, land improvement, and winter grazing strategies as they expand into a second generation of calves.

Cotton and Peanut Referendum Set for December 11

County ASC chairman W. W. Gibson announced that cotton and peanut growers will vote on marketing quotas for 1957 crops and for peanuts also for 1958 and 1959. County acreage allotments are being worked out and growers will receive 1957 allotment notices before the December 11 referendum.

Christmas Pageant Opens December Fourth in Ada

Ada prepares for the annual Christmas pageant at Worris Stadium on December 4 at 7 30 pm. The 21 scenes cover Christ life from nativity to crucifixion with a full choir directed by Thomas Hardie. Local cast and crew, lighting by Oklahoma City professionals, narration by Ralph Wasson, and a script by Mrs T J McKnight.

Pecan Show Set At Ardmore December Meeting

Slate pecan producers from Oklahoma and outside will gather in Ardmore December 4 5 for the 27th annual pecan show and meeting. A&M College specialists will attend along with out of state experts. Highlights include a tour of Pruitt's pecan shelling plant and a banquet at Lake Murray Lodge.

Lula Alumni Gather for Annual Beet Lula Banquet

Alumni gathered for Lula’s annual banquet as Dolph Treas of Wapanucka was elected president with Mrs. Dolph Treas as secretary and Dewey Hall as vice president. James Gri of Del City recalled Lula’s past as a former superintendent, while Clarence Wheichel, now superintendent, spoke on his Lula teaching career. A list of attendees from nearby towns joined the event, with dinner by the More Demonstration Club. page 2 continues.

County HD Clubs Set Achievement Program December 7

The annual county achievement program will be held Friday at 2:50 p.m. in the First Baptist Church in Ada. County and focal club officers will be installed by HD agent Martha Mote. Recognition will be given to outstanding merit and those with 100 percent attendance for the year. The program includes a musical devotional by Mrs. Rae Thompson and group singing led by Mrs. Emma Burns. Ray Morriss will present the Christmas story.

Demand and Price Outlook for 1957 Glows With Faint Optimism

USDA study by W L Knickmeyer forecasts 1957 demand holding at a high level with rising farm costs offset by Soil Bank payments. Production may dip as payments offset higher costs while livestock output stays strong and poultry expansion remains cautious. World wool demand grows. holiday note: Christmas tree consumption near 39 million trees.

Colbert Latta HD Clubs Complete First Aid Course

Colbert and Latta High School clubs finished a Red Cross First Aid course on Monday night. The final round-table discussion was led by Dr. Olie McBride. Students were tested on artificial respiration splints bandages shock bleeding poison care until doctors arrive.
