Flooding from the Mississippi and its tributaries devastates Kentucky Missouri and Illinois with 17 lives lost and about ten million dollars in damage. Levees fail near Quincy Illinois and across the Missouri border while towns in Kentucky suffer heavy loss and workers battle to restore trains and roads.
Building permits in ITV show a two week rise adding 46 900 to the yearly total. One new structure the garage being built by Leslie Prince near his Chevrolet operation costs 20 009. The two week list includes 11 residences totaling 26 900. the most expensive at 4 000. Noted omission is Frank Fleet’s East Seventeenth Street mansion valued over 50 000. Names on recent home permits include S D McIlroy C J Laseman Deaton Floyd E S Branscome W E Burk N B Stall M M Cotten F M Vanlewen W S Kerr N C Henry C A Park.
In Marietta Oklahoma on November 16 two robbers Hayne Liddell and Colbert Keel attempted to rob the First National Bank. After holding staff and forcing President Frank Conrad to assist, a posse opened fire, Keel was killed and Liddell wounded and hospitalized likely blind in one eye. A carpet tack bag whiskey and bandages were found in their car along with the $10,000. Liddell faces prior investigations and indictments in Love County and Gainesville Texas related cases.
City visitors and throngs filled the Ada Hotel lobby and ballroom for the public inspection opening at 7 30, with dancing to midnight. An opening program featured local talent, remarks by East Central State Teachers College leaders, and a friendly, informal reception hosted by the Ada Hotel company and civic groups.

The state teachers colleges selected the Pi Kappa Delta debate question: Resolved that a substitute be adopted for the trial by jury. The choice, agreed by teachers representatives, aims to ease future debate scheduling after last year's difficulties with a fixed question.
The Oklahoma Times reports four Oklahomans aboard the Vestris cut loose an empty boat and rescued 17 people after the ship sank. They drifted 24 hours with no food or water before pickup by the American Shipper and arrival in New York. Arthur M. Jones of Ada planned to go to South America while the others planned to return home.
Clarence Laughlin, a high school boy, is jailed in Pontotoc county on robbery with firearms charges in the court of Justice of the Peace T. O. Cullins. He faces a Saturday preliminary trial after arraignment this morning and was remanded without bond. Earl Boone and Graden Rowell of C & S Tailors accuse him of robbing them of 50 dollars in cash and checks totaling over 29 dollars, with a pistol found after a brief search beneath his vest.
Representative William A. Oldfield of Arkansas died in Washington after gall bladder surgery on Saturday. He failed to rally and passed away shortly after 2 p m as doctors reported concerns over his condition following the operation.
Arthur M. Jones, Ada survivor from the Vestris sinking, returned from New York aboard a rescue ship and arrived at his mother’s home three miles northwest of the city. He had recently moved to Pontotoc county and was among four Oklahoma men who helped save lives aboard the Carter Oil company voyage.
A black robber seized a $1,500 payroll from Mrs W M Smith near the Ada & Atoka roundhouse in Oklahoma City as she delivered pay for two weeks. He jumped on her car’s running board, brandished a pistol, and seized the satchel while William Bruce, a company official, was present.

Lester Colon, 23, an Allen oil field worker from Texarkana Texas, died at Ada hospital after a timber fell from an oil rig striking his head at 4 30 pm. He died at 7 30 pm. He was unmarried. The accident occurred at a site drilled by Heasley Drilling Co in the Allen field. It was the third oil field accident in 12 months.
