New County Fire Trucks Boost Grass Fire Readiness
Pontotoc County expands rural firefighting with two new trucks, one at Stonewall and one at Fittstown. The county plans faster response times with radios, 400 and 800 gallon tanks, and pumps up to 150 and 70 gallons per minute. Pecan Show Planned in Pontotoc County

The largest Appaloosa sale ever planned will be held Saturday November 21 at the sale barns three miles northwest of Ada on SH 13. Auctioneer Eddie Wood will preside. Corvin Rites Set For Local Pioneer William Corvin
Funeral services for William R. Corvin 80 are set for 2 p.m. Friday at the Pentecostal Holiness Church. He died Wednesday in a local hospital after 52 years on the same Egypt farm. Born September 11, 1884 in Dayton Tennessee he came here before statehood in 1901. He married Lou Ellen Taylor in 1906, she died in 1956. He helped organize the Center Masonic Lodge and was active in the Baptist Church. He lived to work and urged continuous action.

Explosion Hurts Patterson Family in Allen Home
Mrs Pat Patterson 40 and her children Rena 17 Tommy 15 and Debra 13 were burned in an explosion at their Route 2 Allen house. They were unclogging a sewer line when sewer gas ignited. Pat outside described a bright red glow. Debra remains on the critical list with severe burns. others in fair condition at Valley View. no home damage or fire.
